Coughton Court is situated two miles north of Alcester on the A435, 8 miles north-west of Stratford-upon-Avon and 18 miles south of Birmingham.
Owned by the Throckmorton family who have connections to several of the plotters as well as connections to other plots against Elizabeth, what you see today began construction around 1530 and is one of the finer examples of tudor dwellings in England.
Coughton is open April to September, Wednesday to Sunday from 11.30am to 5.00pm at a cost of �8.60 for adults.
Main attractions include a Gunpowder Plot exhibit, a priest hide, Mary, Queen of Scots' chemise and a great many exhibits contemporary to the plot. |
